Our new demo video: The voice of Vinnie

Have you ever wondered what Vinnie, our construction-trained AI, would sound like if he had a human voice? I certainly have, especially having watched him train on ever-larger data sets and grow his ability to identify and predict safety risk. But I don’t wonder anymore, because after watching our new demo video, for me, that voiceover IS the voice of Vinnie. After all, Vinnie is the star of the show, playing a central role in Newmetrix's (formerly Smartvid.io) ability to reduce jobsite risk, improve safety, and enable workers to be more productive.

In the video, you can now see exactly how the two modules that were released late last year — Safety Observations and Predictive Analytics — work in the field, along with our first module, Safety Monitoring

Newmetrix Safety Suite demo

The video does a great job of explaining what each module brings to the table, but I’ll quickly summarize each one here:

  • Safety Observations: This module makes it simple for anyone on a jobsite to make safety observations; it’s not just for your safety team. These risk-scored observations can be displayed via mobile or Web, and they can trigger workflows to address issues. The data is AI-ready, so it can flow into your business intelligence platform … and, of course, into Vinnie. Finally, it can easily be tailored to work with your internal safety program, and it works alongside most construction management systems, including Autodesk, Procore and Oracle.

Customers see reductions in their reportable incident rate of up to 30% just with Safety Observations, alone. But don’t stop there. When we get Vinnie involved, the results get even better.
  • Safety Monitoring: In this module, Vinnie takes center stage, acting like a virtual safety manager. You feed site photos and video to Vinnie, and he will automatically detect safety hazards to produce safety risk assessments across sites for benchmarking. Vinnie often finds issues that human observers overlook, identifying subtle risk signals that it uses to score projects on a safety dashboard.
  • Predictive Analytics: To me, this is the most exciting of the three modules, because, here, we really let Vinnie show what he can do. The AI uses data from Safety Observations, Safety Monitoring and many other sources to derive deep insights into project risk. Plus, Vinnie doesn’t just tell you which projects are at risk; he also provides recommendations to reduce that risk so managers can take action to prevent incidents before they occur. Vinnie isn’t simply extrapolating from historical trends. Instead, he's finding patterns in the data that correlate with future safety incidents, giving it real predictive power.

How much power? Enough to reduce reportable incidents for contractors by up to 60%! Predictive-based safety is a reality with Newmetrix.

What I like best about our demo is how concise it is. We’ve boiled down the results from the many case studies and webinars we’ve produced into just a few minutes of (hopefully) entertaining video. So check it out, see what we’ve been up to and listen to Vinnie explain how Newmetrix can help you slash your recordable incident rate and ensure that your teams go home safe every single day. Whether you like Vinnie’s voice or not (on second thought maybe he needed more of a New Jersey accent) we hope you will come away from it seeing how AI is being applied today in construction and how it might help you!
