Get to know the Safety Suite

Recently, we introduced our Safety Suite, which brings together the best of human and artificial intelligence through separate modules for observations, monitoring and predictive analytics. Each module is available for use individually or in a strategic combination. Companies leveraging our Safety Suite have measurably reduced the number of incidents on their jobsites. Let’s explore how they’ve done it.

What’s in the Safety Suite?

Safety Observations

Safety Observations Module for Mobile and Web

Safety Observations is an easy-to-use field system for project teams, safety teams and executives alike to capture and report on safety risks on every jobsite. This module is a direct response to conversations with our customers, many of whom had existing programs for collecting field observations that were poorly adopted and did not generate actionable data. Our customers have seen great results: using Safety Observations, Suffolk reduced its incident rate by 28 percent. Safety Observations drives teams into the field by providing a mobile-first solution that is simple, risk-scored and workflow oriented, not checklist driven.

Safety Monitoring Module

Safety Monitoring uses AI and machine learning to collect and analyze jobsite photos that already exist to provide objective insights and KPIs on leading indicators of safety risks. Workflow tools that encourage safety procedures and checklists have long existed in the construction industry, but these approaches rely on field worker inputs that are inherently subjective.  By using AI to monitor site conditions and worker behavior across every jobsite automatically, Safety Monitoring delivers objective insights to help teams more proactively manage safety. Predictive Analytics Module

Predictive AnalyticsWhat if you could review specific risk warnings every morning a project is active? How would your policies, communications, and strategy change? Predictive Analytics brings this vision to the real world. Using historical project data and incident reports, the module’s construction-specific AI analyzes sources like Safety Monitoring and Safety Observations data to raise red flags before they turn into problems. Since no two projects are alike, the module approaches each jobsite individually. Predictive Analytics can remind users that their own projects tend to have higher incident rates during hot summer months, or in the time leading up to winter holidays, when workers may be distracted.

Risk reduction benefits everyone

The Safety Suite is a natural progression for our AI engine, and for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. Our Predictive Analytics Strategic Council, established earlier this year, formed an alliance between some of the industry’s heavyweights with the goal of fundamentally improving safety in construction. Our customers are energized by the promise of using data to better understand their operations, inform their teams, reduce disruption and financial costs of incidents, and most importantly, help more people go home safe every night.

AI and the Newmetrix Safety Suite won’t displace human intelligence—instead, they can jumpstart ideas and help today's construction teams to better manage safety across increasingly complex and dynamic jobsites. We can’t wait to see what happens as machine and human learning continue to support one another, and collaborate to further reduce project risk.

There he led the company’s product, marketing, and business development functions. Vela Systems grew from bootstrapped beginnings to include over 50% of the ENR Top Contractors as customers and deployments all over the globe. The company was successfully acquired by Autodesk in 2012 and has been rebranded as BIM 360 Field.
